Meet Dan!

Who is Dan?

Dan is a musician, songwriter, vinyl record collector and overall colossal music fan. This love of the art came from a young age when Dan's father introduced him to Bruce Springsteen whilst on a car journey. The Boss has remained his favourite artist to this day.

At the age of eight years old, Dan began learning guitar. Classically trained, by the age of thirteen he set his sights on playing rock/pop tunes on the instrument. Since then, Dan has learnt an assortment of different types of guitar and piano. Dan wrote his first song in 2011 and it was absolutely terrible! Honing in the craft, Dan continues to write until this day. In 2014, Dan discovered country music. Being inspired, Dan decided to focus his writing efforts to be within this genre, one that felt extremely natural to him.

As years went by, Dan was listening to podcasts on all different subjects. Whether that be comedy, parenting, football, psychology or physics. Dan would listen them all - including music podcasts! He always dreamed of having his own. Dan heard Mark Ellen and David Hepworth's podcast, Word In Your Ear, during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and he was inspired to give his own take on the music world publicly.

In late 2021, Dan set up his new Instagram account for his vinyl record collection, @thisisvinyl.tap. On his account he would post pictures of his vinyl records, create music comedy reels, review albums and get to know other really interesting people within the vinyl community. Dan built up a very solid and respectable following, of which he is still very thankful for to this day. This gave him a perfect opportunity to initiate his dream by starting a music based podcast - Music Fishbowl.

In the years since, Music Fishbowl has experienced a growth that Dan could only dream of.  This is due to ​ all the listeners and incredible guests that have featured on Music Fishbowl, helping to maintain a steady and consistent upload schedule. Dan is thankful to everyone who has ever been involved in Music Fishbowl and to those who have engaged with it - without these people, the podcast would be very different! Dan also took the bold step to change @thisisvinyl.tap to @musicfishbowl on Instagram. He still shares pictures of his record collection and other non-podcast related content to this day, despite the name change.

In late 2024, Dan was given the honour to become a journalist for Northern Exposure Magazine, whom he posts social media music reviews, allowing him to realise another dream of his. In April 2025, Dan featured on a fantastic album called The Final Chapter by Fumez. Fumez and many of his collaborators are prominent Music Fishbowl guests. Dan was honoured to be invited to appear on the record, playing the part of a "concerned friend" in the album's concept and lending his talents to some spoken work parts. Dan is so thankful to Fumez for allowing him to have this privilege and he has enjoyed the process every step of the way.
